PODCASTS

I create non-fiction podcasts from start to finish, boxset miniseries and weekly conversational podcasts. I host, interview, script, produce, executive produce, craft edit, story edit and develop audio strategy. I’ve been making podcasts since 2013.

Who Killed Emma? bbc scotland

Eight-part narrative podcast (April 2021). The podcast confronts the man we believe killed Emma Caldwell and puts the women at the centre of the story. Over 2 million downloads in 10 months and over 80% completion rates. It was nominated for a Webby Award 2022 (‘Podcasts: Best Series’) and has recently been optioned for a possible TV drama. Also nominated for a British Podcast Award and a Celtic Festival Award. Selected as a BBC Premium Podcast title for US/Canada Apple subscription service. The Guardian described it as ‘a rare true crime story that gives time to the victim’ and it was featured in The Stylist top true crime podcasts of the year. NB: We removed the podcast in March 2022 for legal reasons. Likely return in 2024

The Doorstep Murder, BBC SCOTLAND

Eight-part true crime podcast covering the unsolved murder of young father and bank manager Alistair Wilson. It went to number 1 in UK iTunes charts on release in May 2018. It has had over 3 million downloads. Many theories and ideas have been put forward but sadly, the case remains unsolved. I supported the development of this podcast, offering guidance and notes on structure, storytelling arc, tone and edit.

Podlitical, BBC SCOTLAND

UK politics podcast covering the Scottish Parliament and Westminster. BBC political journalists across the UK gather every Thursday to discuss the big events of the week. Relaxed conversational tone while adhering to BBC editorial guidelines. The team are brilliantly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We’ve built up a loyal following since launch September 2018. I created the podcast and put a production schedule in place that integrates the show into the radio newsroom who now run the podcast. The Guardian described it as ‘a refreshingly new approach’. The podcast was featured in the HotPod newsletter

the alex salmond trial podcast, BBC scotland

Daily podcast covering all eleven days of the court case in March 2020. Each episode is a detailed court report covering one day of the trial. BBC Scotland’s resident lawyer Rosalind McInnes and BBC reporter Philip Sim walk us through an active court case on the basis of what could legally be reported. Every episode went through a minimum of two lawyers and several senior editorial journalists before release every evening. I created and delivered the podcast.

ipm, bbc radio 4

For nine years I co-hosted an award winning BBC Radio 4 show with Eddie Mair called iPM. It was a 24 minute documentary show and one of the first BBC podcasts. We told real-life stories every week, all year round. We mixed interviews, narrative storytelling and round table conversation. I helped launch the show and develop its tone and style. I produced stories, interviewed guests and co-hosted over 400 shows.

iPM was part of a team of Radio 4 News programmes which I contributed to: PM, The World at One and Broadcasting House
